Photography was born to die.
What is the book about?
Photography was born to die is a philosophical reflection on photography as a form of existence — 200 years after its invention.
It is about what photography was, what it has become, and what remains of it for the future.
The book is structured into chapters that open up distinct themes and ways of thinking about photography.
You don’t need to read it from beginning to end.
Open it anywhere and start reading.
Why do I write the book?
I think of myself as a mediator between photography and the world.
Photography was meant to be a medium through which we encounter the world. Yet, within the ever-growing flood of images, we have become almost immune to the magic photography can still offer us.
With this book, I am trying to awaken that sensitivity again.
Can we become photo-sensitive again?
Photography was born to die. To be reborn again and again.
The book isn't finished yet, and completing it will require 100% of my time.
