Ramble

Ramble Łódź marks the beginning of the long-term project Ramble. Developed during a temporary stay in an unfamiliar city, the series emerged from daily walks without predetermined routes or specific subjects to photograph. The camera became a means of orientation—a way to observe, navigate, and gradually become familiar with a place.

Rather than documenting Łódź through its landmarks or constructing a representative portrait of the city, the photographs focus on fragments encountered along the way: ordinary situations, architectural details, traces of human presence, light, surfaces, and accidental visual relationships. Repeated walking and photographing gradually transformed an unfamiliar environment into a subjective visual map.

Ramble Łódź established a method later applied elsewhere: experiencing a city through walking, collecting photographic fragments, and letting an understanding of place emerge from the accumulated images rather than a predetermined narrative.
